About Allocating Credit Lines

Overview

eCredit supports allocation by operating characteristics or by business hierarchy. You allocate a credit line using only one of these methods. However, when you make an allocation to an account in a business hierarchy, you can then re-allocate the allocated amount to your business units using the operating characteristics method.

Operating Characteristics: To allocate by operating characteristics, you set up your internal divisions to which you want to allocate using the Operating Characteristics feature of the Customer Analysis module. These operating characteristics must be added for each customer to whom you make allocations.

Business Hierarchy: To allocate by business hierarchy your business administrator sets up hierarchies of customers that have legal or business relationships with each other. You then analyze the risk and create a credit line for a parent account, and allocate the credit line to the accounts that are below that account in the hierarchy. You can allocate a credit line to only one hierarchy.

You can view the allocation history for a credit line that summarizes any modifications made to the allocation.
