Segments

Overview

Segments are groupings of invoices that require a common collection strategy. As the Strategist, you use the Segments feature to define the segments to which your segment ruleset makes assignments. Typically, you define a segment for each group of invoices that you handle with a different strategy.

In order to save a segment, the segment must have a strategy associated with it. For this reason, you must first enter the strategies that reflect the different ways that you treat invoices, and then enter the segments.

After you enter segments, you then enter segment rulesets that provide the business logic for assigning invoices to the segment. You create rulesets using the Ruleset feature.

Working with the Segments feature, a strategist can:

  • Define segments and associate them with a Champion strategy that represents your best practices for handling invoices of this type. More

  • Enter a time frame for the effectiveness metrics. Entering a time frame is optional, but the Period After Date saves the date from which you view effectiveness metrics. For example, the Period After Date could be the date on which a Challenger Strategy was added. You can change these dates at any time.

  • Modify a segment at any time.

  • Mark a segment for deletion. More When you mark a segment for deletion, it is deleted only after all invoices assigned to the segment have been closed, and no rulesets reference the segment.

  • Undelete a segment. During the time that the segment is marked for deletion but not yet deleted, you can restore the segment so that it is no longer marked for deletion.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of both Champion and Challenger strategies using the effectiveness metrics eCredit generates. More

  • View the effectiveness metrics for the Champion strategy assigned to the segment, and for a Challenger strategy if one is assigned. When viewing effectiveness metrics, the strategist can search by time frame to view metrics for only the specified time.

  • Optionally assign Challenger strategies to segments that you define as potential improvements on your best practices. More

  • Promote a Challenger strategy to be the Champion strategy, or remove a Challenger strategy. You can use the effectiveness metrics to determine which strategy is most effective.
