Working with External Financial Statements

Overview

If a Reuters subscription is included as part of your eCredit implementation, you can use eCredit to directly access financial statements from Reuters Fundamentals, a service of Reuters. Using the External Financials feature, you can:

  • request financial statements from Reuters.

  • view the statements that you request.

  • save Reuters financial statements to the eCredit customer file.

  • resubmit requests for financial statements.

When you request financial statements from Reuters, you can review the statements online in the format provided by Reuters, or download the financial information to eCredit, eliminating the need to manually enter the statements.

When requesting financial statements, if you select the Auto Save to Customer File check box, the statements you request are automatically saved in eCredit, replacing any existing statements for the same time period. You can also save the statements in eCredit after requesting them. In this case, you are asked if you want to overwrite any existing statements for the same time period with the requested statements.

When you download the information to eCredit, it is available in the Financial Analysis feature for use in statement comparison, cash flow calculation, and Expert Comments. From the Financial Analysis feature, you can also export the statement to a spreadsheet or print it.

When the information is downloaded, it is mapped to the customer's default financial format. All the ratios and cash flow values defined in the customer's default format are calculated and stored in eCredit. If the customer does not have a default financial format, the financial data is mapped to the standard US Long format in eCredit.

When requesting financial information, you can:

  • Select to automatically download the statements you request

  • Request up to 5 statements that you can view side-by-side on the screen

  • Define a time period for which you are requesting statements

  • Select to view annual or interim statements

  • Select to view the most recent, original, or all versions of the statement, if a statement has been restated

If you are use Company Lookup to request the statements, the Report No is automatically filled in when submitting the request. More

If you do not use Company Lookup, when you submit requests for Reuters Fundamental Financial Statements, eCredit can facilitate the request by automatically filling in the country and the Ticker Symbol if you enter it on the customer's Basic screen.
