About Root Rules for Strategy Rulesets

Overview

You must designate a rule as the root rule for the ruleset. This is the first rule eCredit evaluates within a ruleset. If your collections policy treats invoices that satisfy the same condition differently depending on a certain characteristic, that characteristic becomes the root rule. For example, if the same total A/R outstanding is treated differently depending on the business unit, then business unit is the attribute for the root rule.

When your express your collections policy as a series of if/then statements, if you have a preliminary statement such as, for Business Unit 1, if the Total Outstanding A/R is Greater than $5K then assign to segment 1, and then some different rules for Business Unit 2, the preliminary statements (For Business Unit 1 and For Business Unit 2) are conditions for the root rule.
