Maintaining Sources for Credit Origination

Overview

If your organization includes multiple sales channels, you can set up eCredit so that these sales channels can use eCredit to submit credit requests. These sales channels are referred to as sources. You specify whether these sources for credit request origination are external or internal to your enterprise. Examples of external sales channels are vendors, dealers, distributors, and value-added re-sellers. Internal channels could include direct sales representatives, and branch or regional offices.

As sources are often competing with each other, it can be important to control the degree of access that your credit request sources have to each other's customers and transactions. Depending on whether the source is external or internal to your organization, you can specify the degree of access that the source has to your customers and transactions, and to the customers and transactions for other source.

Using the Source Set up feature of the Admin module, the subscriber administrator can:

  • Add sources for either external or internal sales channels

  • Associate multiple locations with any source

  • Associate the source with only the user roles you want the source users to have

  • Modify source information

Note: You can use the Additional Information feature of the Admin module to define additional fields for external and internal sources. If you define these fields, they are available when you add external and internal sources.

Determining the degree of access for internal source users

When adding information for an internal source, you can give the source access to all customers. When you select this option, the source can access all customers and transactions for all sources and for the subscriber. If you do not select this option, the internal source can access only its own customers and transactions.

An external source can have access to only its own customers and transactions.

For internal sources, you can also specify whether the source has access to all users. If the source has access to all users, all drop-down lists in eCredit that reference users include the names of users for all sources and for your subscriber organization. If you do not grant access to all users to an internal source, drop-down lists that reference users include only the names of users for that source.

An external source can have access to only its own users.

About user roles for sources

When you add a source, you associate user roles with the source. The roles you associate with the source are the only roles that can be assigned to source users. Associating user roles with a source enables you, as the subscriber administrator, to control the capabilities source users can have.

If you want the source to add and maintain its own users, you must add a user for the source who is assigned to the source administrator role. The source administrator can assign users to only the roles assigned to the source administrator. Therefore, you must assign the source administrator all roles required by the source organization.

eCredit provides a generic SourceAdmin role that includes only the capabilities to add and maintain users. This enables you to maintain control of the eCredit application setup, while enabling the source administrator to add and maintain the source users.
